There is really nothing better than sipping on a sweet, cool, libation pool side. So you are in luck! Here is the perfect Saturday (or any day) Red Sangria for summer.
First you want to find yourself a large enough pitcher, like this one.
Procure oranges and lemons and limes, oh my!
Rinse your fruit and remember to remove the stickers…
Otherwise you may or may not find them floating in your wine glass…
Slice the edges off your orange- this creates a flat surface for cutting.
Slice in half .
Then into wedges these purty little wedges.
Cut again into small triangles or chunks.
Add to the pitcher. Repeat with the lemons.
Remove all seeds and cut into triangular wedges.
Prepare your limes.
Slice and repeat!
Wedge away one last time!
Voila! Add all your triangles into your large pitcher.
***I got so excited I apparently forgot to take a picture of the frozen mixed berried I added…so ya know, add those in as well!***
Then make your fellow army wives proud by using this shot glass… HOOAH!
Now pour in some orange liqueur to help pull out the citrus notes in the sangria
Open a bottle of any old red wine. Use what you like!
Pour it all into the pitcher.
Let it meld and marinade on the counter for a few hours to help oxidize the citrus fruits (which actually pulls out the aromatic components needed for a great sangria) then place in the fridge for at least 24 hours for the flavors to incorporate into one another.
Get out a glass and add a splash of lemon/lime soda…or as we say in Chicago- POP!
Stop it! NO judging you non-mid-westerners.
Give your sangria a quick stir and pour into your glass.

- 2 oranges
- 2 lemons
- 3 limes
- Frozen mixed berries (small bag)
- 4 shots, triple sec or orange liqueur
- 2 bottles red wine
- Any lemon/lime soda
- Begin by washing, seeding, and slicing your oranges, lemons,and limes. Combine all the fruit into the pitcher.
- Add four shots of the orange liqueur
- Add two bottles of red wine
- Let chill in the fridge and marinade for at least 24 hours
- Serve with a splash of lemon/lime soda and enjoy
